Melissa from KWMC writes:

"We are working with artists from Ludic Rooms (http://blog.ludicrooms.com/) and are doing a series of GPS aided walks across Knowle West.

We'd like to take a group of mums out and a group of dads out (on different days) in the week beginning 28th April.

The participants would each be given a GPS unit to record their walk and interesting places along the way- we are interested in places that people stop/stare/talk to each other as a way of finding landmarks and important routes. The artists will guide the walk and help make it funny and interesting.

The walk would last 1-1.5 hours, and ideally start at 12:45pm

Children can come, but don't need to.

After the walk the data will then be uploaded to Google Earth and mapped in interesting ways. We'd also do some free refreshments.

The participants then have an option to take home a mini GPS unit which can record their journeys for a month.

We would then have a second session in May, where the GPS data is gathered and interesting patterns spotted.

Over the May half term (and other times), there will then be chances to help design and make some signs and fun digital things that will be tested out in the places that their (and other people's) GPS data has shown to be interesting and useful for people to find their way around their neighbourhood- for example short cuts to school or places to play."
