This is Jake!

This is Jake!
He is our newest member of staff at KWCC.
He is a two year old Cocker Spaniel and was trained as a ‘Hearing Dog’ for the deaf. He failed his final assessment because he liked chasing pigeons too much and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf were looking for a place to rehome him. They knew that he was such a calm and social dog that a Children’s Centre would be the perfect place. He has been socialised with a Childminder foster home so he is used to children of all ages as well as pets and strangers.
We have created a risk assessment for him and we are aware of children who are wary of dogs or allergic to them. Jake is used to working with nervous children and will be very patient and still when around them.
We aren’t sure exactly what his job will be yet, but we like to imagine that he will have a timetable to work with children who need 1:1, in the rooms generally, walks with families and visits to the Community Centre at Inn’s Court!
